Module Two: Bioenergetic PsychotherapyThe Bioenergetic Psychotherapy Training component of the program stresses the importance of a body/mind approach to intrapsychic and interpersonal conflict. The understanding of development of character structure and defense mechanisms, as well as, the process of healing, is critical here. We emphasize individualized training involving personal growth, cognitive development and mastery of theory and practice most recently influenced by Wilhelm Reich, Alexander Lowen, John Pierrakos, Ego and Self Psychology. In the first two years, every class begins with a Bioenergetic Exercise Group followed by a leader-directed journey that is related to a particular character structure. This is followed by a process group to share one's experience on the journey. The remainder of the day involves individual Bioenergetic Therapy sessions in front of the group as a learning process. In years three and four, a student leads the Bioenergetic Group and process. Each class involves a student conducting a Bioenergetic therapy session, a clinical case presentation and/or a theoretical presentation. Each therapy session and subsequent group and leader feedback session is video taped and the student therapist is provided with a tape to utilize as a learning tool. Each student is a client to another student for year three and four. They are expected to meet at least twice per month for a practice Bioenergetic therapy session (the other two weeks of the month are for the therapist to practice Energy Healing sessions on the student client). This is a four year course offered one Saturday per month from 9:00AM-6:00PM. There will be 10 training Saturdays per year. Cost:$1600 per year. This course is required for those with no Bioenergetic Psychotherapy training.
